ABOVE ALL ODDS
When God Carries You Through
"When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you. When you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you."(Isaiah 43:2)
Picture young Juliane Koepcke, strapped to her airplane seat, plummeting two miles through lightning-filled skies above the Amazon jungle. By every natural law and every human expectation, she should not have survived. Yet there she was, awakening on the jungle floor on Christmas morning, 1971 - the sole survivor of LANSA flight 508.
You see, beloved, sometimes God preserves us through circumstances that defy explanation. Like Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego walking out of their fiery furnace, there are moments when divine protection overrules natural law.
For ten grueling days, Juliane pressed through the Amazon jungle, maggot-infested wounds threatening infection, every step a testament to supernatural preservation. When she finally found that boat with fuel - fuel that would clean her wounds and help save her life - it wasn't just luck. It was divine provision positioned before she even knew she would need it.
The Master specializes in survival stories that glorify His name. Out of 93 passengers, one survived - not by chance, but by providence. Like Joseph in his pit proclaiming, "You meant it for evil, but God meant it for good," every survival against impossible odds testifies to His saving power.
Watch how He works: Sometimes, He doesn't prevent the fall but preserves it. He doesn't always keep us from the jungle, but He guides us through it. Every step Juliane took, though she may not have known it, was guided by the One who promised never to leave or forsake His own.
Rise, precious one! Your circumstances may seem impossible, your survival is unlikely, and your strength is nearly gone. But the same God who preserved a seventeen-year-old girl through a two-mile fall and ten days in the Amazon is mighty to maintain you through your trial.
Our God specializes in survival stories that defy explanations for His truly beloved. Will you trust Him in your impossible situation? When we understand that our preservation doesn't depend on natural odds but supernatural grace, we find strength to endure whatever fall life brings.
The invitation stands - not to escape every storm, but to experience His preservation through them. May we be found among those whose survival stories defy explanation, whose testimonies declare that with God, nothing is impossible.
With Love,
Steve Porter
