GET UP
A Holy Call to Rise Again
“Do not rejoice over me, my enemy; When I fall, I will arise; When I sit in darkness, The Lord will be a light to me.” — Micah 7:8 (NKJV) “And it shall come to pass in that day That his burden will be taken away from your shoulder… And the yoke will be destroyed…” — Isaiah 10:27 (NKJV) There are moments in life when the wind is knocked out of you. Moments when you didn’t just stumble… you fell. Moments when the darkness feels thick… and staying down almost feels easier than getting back up. Maybe you know that place. That place where your strength feels gone. Where your faith feels weak. Where the enemy whispers, “Stay right there… this is where you belong now.” But hear me, dear one… That is not your permanent place. The Word of God does not say, “When I fall, I will stay.” It says, “When I fall… I will arise.” There is something inside of you—placed there by God—that was never meant to stay down. You may have fallen… but you are not finished. You may be sitting in darkness… but you are not abandoned. The Lord Himself will be your light. And oh, how the enemy loves to celebrate your fall. He rejoices when you stay under the weight. He seeks to mock and ridicule you, laughing with his cohorts as he tries to keep you bound. He whispers when you feel weak. He tries to convince you that this is the end of your story. But you need to rebuke him and shout back. “Do not rejoice over me.” Not because you’re strong in yourself… But because you know the One who lifts you. There is a difference between being broken… and being destroyed. Broken things can be restored. But God goes even further. He doesn’t just patch you up… He breaks the yoke off your life entirely. Destroyed. Gone. No longer holding you. And I feel this so strongly, dear one… You don’t have to stay under what has been weighing you down. You don’t have to stay in that place of defeat. You don’t have to live under that burden any longer. Get up. Yes… hear it again. Get up. Not in your own strength… But by His grace. Because He is the God of second chances. The same God who spoke again to Jonah after failure… The same God who meets you again… and again… and again… He is speaking to you now. “Rise.” And maybe you feel like you’re in a pit. A cold place. A low place. A place where everything feels against you. But I think of a man in Scripture who refused to stay down… Benaiah—the son of Jehoiada, one of David’s mighty warriors. The Bible tells us in 1 Chronicles 11:22 that he was a valiant man, known for great exploits. And one moment stands out… On a cold, snowy day… he went down into a pit and faced a lion. No advantage. No firm footing. No easy escape. Everything about that situation said, “This is not winnable.” And yet… he did not back down. He did not stay where he was. With God’s help… he rose up in that pit, in that low place, in that difficult moment… and overcame what should have taken him out. Dear one… this is your moment. This lion will not take you out. This season will not define you. This darkness will not have the final word. God is for you. And the moment—listen carefully—the moment you begin to rise in your heart… The moment you say, “I’m not staying here anymore…” He comes running. His grace. His mercy. His cleansing. His power. He does not stand at a distance… He draws near. He lifts you. He steadies you. He places your feet back on solid ground. And suddenly, what felt like the end… becomes the beginning of something new. Oh beloved… This is not just a message. This is a moment. Some of you reading this… you’ve been in that place. Bound. Weary. Discouraged. Maybe even ashamed. But I feel the urgency of the Spirit… You don’t have to stay there. Get up out of that grave. Get up out of that place of defeat. Get up out of what has been holding you down. You can rise. Not because of who you are… But because of who He is. And if He has lifted others… He can lift you. If He has restored others… He can restore you. If He has set others free… He can set you free. So right now… right where you are… Make a decision. “I’m not staying down.” Even if it’s just a whisper… Even if it’s through tears… Say it. “I will arise.” And watch what happens. The light will begin to break through. The weight will begin to lift. And the presence of the Lord will meet you right there. As I read this devotion, HOLY SPIRIT said that He is the GOD of restoration, redemption, renewal, and yes recompense.
Towards His people that feel like they are dead inside and under the weight of burdens, trials, uncertainty, feeling worthless, unable to rise up from it all, I heard the voice like mighty rushing waters, the voice of Him, that conquered sin death and the grave, say "LAZARUS COME FORTH!" Our LORD was speaking into your circumstance and saying that you can rise again! He says, "I am the very same GOD that saw you before the world began. I am the LORD that loves you enough to die on your behalf. I am Him that am giving you the power to rise above and to not be under the weights that try to hold you down. I am the LORD and I am right next to you! Rise up and shake off the grave clothes that the enemy has tried to bind you with. The I AM is with you!
Take courage and know that at one time or another every single person has felt the way that you may feel. We groan in our inner man on your behalf. We encourage you to take this devotion to heart! GOD is reaching out to you in love. He is waiting for you to take His outstretched hand. The LORD will meter out recompense to the enemy that tries to keep you down and bound. Shake off the grave clothes and take the hand of your SAVIOR. Hear the gentle voice of love that our LORD is saying to you through this devotion. The enemy that has tried to bind you with his lies is terrified that you will rise up and that you will take the outstretched hands of GOD OUR HOLY LORD!
He is the God of second chances.
