LET THERE BE LIGHT
A Prophetic Invitation Into Creative Union With God
“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was without form, and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters. Then God said, ‘Let there be light’; and there was light.”
— Genesis 1:1–3 (NKJV)
Before there was light… there was God.
Before there was sound… there was Spirit.
Before anything took shape, the Eternal One stood outside of time, gazing into the deep, unformed void, not with fear or frustration—but with intention.
The Holy One brooded there in the deep blackness of the unmade.
And even now, beloved, He broods still—not over cosmic chaos, but the chaos within us, over places still unformed. We're too afraid to name the hidden voids in the caverns of our souls. Over the deep things we’ve buried beneath years of spiritual fatigue, broken identity, and faded dreams.
The Spirit of God hovers—gently, patiently, eternally poised to create again.
Oh, dear one, do not fear the darkness within. Do not run from the void. Yield it to the Holy Spirit, who knows how to hover. The same Ruach—the breath of God that hovered over the primordial waters—is even now stirring over the face of your depths, waiting for the Word to be spoken.
“Let there be light.”
This is more than a beginning. It is a divine pattern. A prophetic whisper of how the Lord brings transformation:
1. He enters the formless places.
2. He hovers with tenderness.
3. Then He speaks—and when He does, light invades.
And so it is with us. Our mess does not repel him. He is not intimidated by our darkness. He moves toward it—with fire in His eyes and a Word on His lips.
“Let there be light.”
That light, dear one, is not just illumination but revelation. It is the unveiling of Christ within. It is the dawning of your identity as one made in His image called out of the void and into glory.
This is not simply a creation story—it is your restoration story.
What is still formless in your life? What is void? What lies deep beneath the surface, untouched and unseen?
Let Him hover.
Let Him speak.
Let there be light.
You were never meant to remain empty and void.
You were always meant to carry the imprint of His voice—the fire of His Word etched across your soul.
Let the same creative Spirit that brought the cosmos from chaos bring divine order to your heart. Let there be light in your thinking, light in your broken places, light in your calling, and light in your secret history with Him.
Let there be light!
Oh, Bride of Christ, can you feel Him brooding over your waters? Can you sense the hovering? He is near—closer than your breath—ready to speak life and awaken the divine spark again. You are not forgotten. You are not formless. You are becoming a dwelling place of glory.
Let there be light—and it will be good.
Holy Spirit, brood over me once more.
Hover over the places in me still dark, still void, still longing for Your touch.
I surrender my chaos, my confusion, my hidden shadows.
Speak Your Creative Word—Let there be light.
And as You speak, form me again.
Shape me into one who reflects Your glory, nature, and beauty.
Make me a new creation from the inside out.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
With Love,
Steve Porter
