LIGHT BEARERS
FOLLOWING THE TRAIL OF HIS PRESENCE
“Tell me, O thou whom my soul loveth, where thou feedest, where thou makest thy flock to rest at noon: for why should I be as one that turneth aside by the flocks of thy companions? If thou know not, O thou fairest among women, go thy way forth by the footsteps of the flock, and feed thy kids beside the shepherds’ tents.”
—Song of Solomon 1:7–8
A sacred path is carved into eternity—worn smooth by the feet of those who have longed for more. This is the way of the seeker, the way of the bride whose soul aches with longing to be where He is. I often see this vision when I pray: a narrow road stretching toward a golden horizon, flanked on both sides by glowing lanterns. The light is soft, warm, and holy—each lantern marking where someone met God… and left a flame behind (burning testimony.)
These are not just memories. They are beacons. Each lantern was kindled by those who walked closely with Him, those who learned the secret of abiding, and those who gave their lives in pursuit of the One they loved most. Names like Walter Beuttler, Brother Lawrence, Hattie Hammond, and Praying Hyde come to mind—saints of old who walked this path in trembling awe and fiery devotion. They did not walk for applause. They walked to discover Him. And in doing so, they lit the way for us (a burning lantern.)
“Tell me, O You whom my soul loves…”
The cry of the Bride echoes across generations. She has tasted the testimonies of others, gleaned from the overflow of their lives. But now, something deeper stirs. She is no longer content with secondhand encounters or borrowed oil. She must know where He feeds His flock. She must find the place of His rest at noon. Not just any tent will do—not even the tents of His companions. She longs for the Shepherd’s tent… the place of face-to-face communion with the Great Shepherd.
Beloved, that’s where the true transformation takes place. When you leave behind the flocks of others and begin following the “footsteps of the flock,” you begin a journey leading to revelation and relationship. You begin to walk in the path of the lovers of God—the ones who chose hiddenness over hype, the secret place over the stage. And it is there, beside the Shepherd’s tent, that He reveals Himself in personal ways that books and sermons cannot explain. There, you learn His heart, not just His hand. The Blessor not just the blessing.
And something holy happens…
You become a lantern bearer.
Yes, dear one, your life begins to glow with the oil of intimacy. The fragrance of your pursuit rises like incense. It’s not about perfection but pursuit, not about arrival, but about abiding. You carry a flickering flame born in secret places—the flame of surrender, of midnight prayers, of tears wiped away by unseen hands.
And others will see it.
They will see the trail of your yieldedness. They’ll feel something different in your presence—the gentle weight of glory. The peace that passes understanding. The love that flows unforced. They may not know precisely what it is, but they’ll know it’s real… and be drawn to it like weary travelers to a warm fire.
This, beloved, is the legacy of the lantern bearers.
They light the path for others.
They leave behind a testimony, not just with words—but with lives consumed by holy fire.
So now it’s our turn.
Let us follow the way of the Master Jesus. Let us follow in the footsteps of the flock. Let us press toward the Shepherd’s tent. And when we find Him, let us stay—until we, too, become burning ones who light the way for those who come behind us.
May our footsteps blaze with the evidence of His mighty presence.
May our lives shine with the oil of those who’ve truly been with Jesus.
And when someone lost and longing steps onto that path in search of the Beloved, may they find light in the trail we left behind.
With Love,
Steve Porter

Thank you sower of seeds and the plowing thereof. “Tell me where Thou dost feed. I have food that ye know not of”. This Shunamite’s/ Handmaiden’s desire is to feed/dine, in an unknown pasture than they presently find themselves in, often not found in many of their pastures/paths, churches and consequently a people, flock/congregation will often reflect the Candlestick’s KNOWN in part , SEEN in part knowledge. See now the beauty of his/ her/ our Beloved. Genesis 7:11- (it’s never closed here as well), on Noahs 600th birthday year,
SAME DAY- ( the Day of Visitation), were all the fountains of the “ Great- DEEP “ opened. As it is in the natural… The Fathers revelations/waters are brought in to our earthen vessel and there is released within us the Fountains of the Great Deeps Waters being broken up revealing heavenly opened windows : ( John : 7:35-40), the Precious Holy Spirit which those who believe in Him SHOULD receive,(wasn’t an option then or now), for the ascending into the secrets of His Stairways in its ascending elevation. Is it not when he was under an accomplished command that God shut Noah in to Himself ? Are we not the same?Sidebar- the Hebrew word for pitch , Genesis 6:14 “Pitch it inside and outside”is KAPHAR: “to make atonement” it was a vessel atoned for inside and outside of us thereby resulting afterwards in the Waters increase and being “Born Upwards”-( gracia mi Hermano), and our being lifted upward above the earth. Paul NEVER said the 3rd heaven is only for a special few, what he did say was speech here is sacred, a “personal Presbytery” handed to you with nail scarring upon it. See also, this place is where the windows (plural), of heaven are opened up to us in two ways specifically. The covenantal tenth and offering written to thieving priests- then as now, from the book of Malachi. Secondly, the open visions presented to us by opened heavens/ realms we are privileged to SEE into. Here in the Presence without spoken word is knowledge openly brought forth from a Most High King. Here is a Lamb with the marks of slaughter upon Him. See now in beholding this Lamb, and it shall be here out of a given placement of opened windows/portals that there’s a sound of “hearing voices”( His servants the prophets). Blessed is he who is called, tarry not neither be in delay, behold even now, He stands at the door and His Eyes are searching the earthen lands and they are calling a people who were no people unto Himself. Selah
I love this! This shows me a long, long line of people following the one in front of them going all the way back to Paul who said “follow me as I follow Christ!”
