PRESENCE OVER PERFORMANCE
The Holy Call to Return to What Really Matters Most
“Jesus replied, ‘Let us go somewhere else—to the nearby villages—so I can preach there also. That is why I have come.’” —Mark 1:38 (NIV) The crowds gathered. The disciples were thrilled. The ministry was exploding. Miracles. Healings. Deliverance. All of it. But then Jesus… quietly slipped away. He left the noise to find His Father. He left the applause to seek the Presence. Can you feel the weight of that? The Son of God…perfect, sinless, full of the Spirit…still withdrew to pray. Still needed the stillness. Still longed for the nearness. Oh, beloved… what would happen if we stopped chasing performance and started hungering for Presence again? What if our worth wasn’t tied to our platform, our productivity, or our praise, but to the gentle whisper of His approval? Heaven doesn’t measure success by stage lights or social media followers. It measures hearts…bowed hearts. Hearts that still tremble before His Word. Hearts that still melt at His whisper. Hearts that say, “Not my will, Lord… but Yours be done.” The world says, “Be seen.” Jesus says, “Be hidden.” The world says, “Do more.” He says, “Abide.” Even in Nazareth, as a young boy, the Scripture says, “Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men.” —Luke 2:52 (NKJV) He didn’t rush the process. He grew quietly…in wisdom, in favor, in intimacy. Every step was guided by the Father’s will, not human expectation. There is a sacred beauty in saying no to the noise. A holy boldness in choosing His Word over the opinions of men. A deep rest in becoming a Throne Room dweller instead of a crowd pleaser. When we dwell in His Presence, the applause of earth grows strangely faint. When His holy Word becomes our compass, the wind of confusion loses its grip. When His will becomes our desire, peace settles in like dawn after a long night. Dear one, the hour is late. The world is loud. But the Spirit whispers still…calling His Bride back to first love. He is purifying, refining, drawing near those who will worship in spirit and in truth. Let every distraction fade. Let every stage be surrendered. Let every opinion bow to the Word of the Lord. For soon… so very soon… we shall see Him face to face. “He who testifies to these things says, ‘Surely I am coming quickly.’ Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus!” —Revelation 22:20 (NKJV) Beloved, maybe your heart has been pulled by pressure… performance… people’s opinions. Lay it down now. All of it. Come back to Presence over performance. To the Word over opinions. To His will, not yours. To the secret place where Throne Room dwellers are born. Close your eyes for a moment. Whisper His Name. Let the tears fall if they come. He’s not asking you to impress Him…only to love Him. Return to the simplicity of devotion. Return to the sound of His voice. Return to the reason you said yes in the first place. For in His Presence… you’ll find everything you’ve been searching for. Let us soak in His holy word. Let us dive into the holy presence. Let us do His will, not ours. Let us go to His chambers and became a throne room dweller.
Heaven measures our surrendered hearts.
As I’m reading this devotional, my heart melts for Jesus. Such a deep longing to be still in His presence above everything.
