“The journey of life, for the believer, is to daily yield more fully to Christ, becoming who He destined us to be—radiant with His image.”
—Steve Porter
Beloved, heaven is not the only goal.
It’s already ours—sealed by the blood.
Written in the Lamb’s Book of Life.
If you’ve turned from sin…
If you’ve given your heart to Jesus…
Then eternity is settled.
But what about today?
What about now?
What about the daily call…
To look more like the One who saved you?
To walk like Him.
Talk like Him.
Love like Him.
That’s part of it, too.
Part of the pilgrimage.
Part of the becoming.
It all counts.
Too many only see the finish line.
They miss the beauty of the steps.
Each one matters.
Each one is holy.
But the Lord longs to walk with us now.
Not just at the end.
Now.
He shapes us.
He molds us.
He transforms us.
Little by little.
Glory to glory.
This is sanctification.
His Spirit refining us from within.
It’s a holy work.
And it’s happening right now.
To yield daily to Christ is to open wide the doors of our hearts to the gentle sculpting of His hand.
He chisels away the rough edges, smooths the hardened places, and carves His nature deep within. Bit by bit, His image breaks through.
Chipping away the stone of self.
What’s left?
A reflection of Him.
We become His handiwork.
Living proof of grace.
Walking testimonies.
Not statues—stories.
And in that quiet transformation…
We begin to shine.
Not with our own light.
But with His.
All Him.
Only Him.
“Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”
—Matthew 5:16 (NIV)
We do not produce this light ourselves. We are not the flame—we are the mirror. Our lives become radiant not by striving, but by beholding. We are changed when we look at Him.
Changed by the gaze.
The closer we walk with Jesus…
The more we reflect Him.
His kindness.
His purity.
His humility.
His burning love.
It starts to show.
In us.
Through us.
Because we’ve been with Him.
As the apostle Paul reminds us:
“And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.”
—2 Corinthians 3:18 (NIV)
Oh, dear one, this is the holy secret to shining bright in a gloomy world: behold Him. Behold.
Surrender is the posture of the radiant heart. When we let go…
Of earthly wants.
Of selfish dreams.
Of fleshly ties…
Something holy happens.
Space is made.
Room is cleared.
And His highest fills the gap.
He gives more.
So much more.
When we surrender we become vessels of His beauty, reflecting heaven’s glow. Not through pretense, not through effort, but through yielding.
The Bride of Christ shines.
But not with the world’s glitter.
Not with fake sparkle.
She glows with something greater.
A holy light.
A deeper union.
Born of intimacy.
With the Bridegroom.
The One who is Light itself.
Radiant.
Pure.
Set apart.
“You are the light of the world—like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden.”
—Matthew 5:14 (NLT)
We shine because we have seen Him. We shine because we have loved Him. We shine because we have yielded to Him.
This changes everything. It changes how we speak. How we think. How we treat others. It changes us.
How we drive.
How we think when no one sees.
Even how we pray in the dark.
It touches the little things.
Sanctifies the ordinary.
Fills the mundane with glory.
Because when we live to reflect Him…
Every moment matters.
Every second shines.
Every breath becomes an altar.
An altar of transformation.
So, dear friend…
Don’t settle.
Not for empty religion.
Not for going through the motions.
Don’t just coast through life.
Waiting for heaven.
Missing the now.
There’s a holy invitation.
To become like Him.
Here.
Now.
Today.
Let us press in.
Let us gaze long.
Let us yield deep.
Let us burn with a brightness not of this world—a reflection of the One who first loved us.
Beloved, you are called to shine. Not by force, but by nearness. Not by striving, but by surrender.
Will you let Him conform you to His image today? Will you say yes—not just to salvation—but to transformation?
This is your high and holy calling: to become radiant with His image.
And when the world looks upon you, may they see Him.
With Love,
Steve Porter
