Sacred Secrets
When Only Heaven Sees
“But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your giving may be in secret. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you." (Matthew 6:3-4)
Watch how easily it creeps in - that subtle desire for recognition, that need to share our good deeds on social media, that hunger for others to know our generosity. Like the Pharisees who prayed on street corners, we've become masters at spiritual advertising.
You see, beloved, when we announce our giving, post our serving, broadcast our kindness, something sacred is lost. Each "like," each word of praise, and each moment of recognition becomes our reward in full. We trade eternal appreciation for temporal applause.
The sweet Master speaks of a higher way—giving so secret that even our left-hand doesn't know what our right-hand does. This isn't just poetic language; it's a profound picture of pure motivation—true giving flows from love alone, seeking no earthly reward, no human recognition.
Think of it - seeds planted in secret produce harvests just as abundant as those grown with fanfare. These hidden seeds often yield the most significant fruit because their soil isn't contaminated with pride's poison.
Watch how heaven works: The Father, who sees in secret, delights in rewarding what others never notice. Every anonymous gift, quiet act of service, and hidden sacrifice is recorded in heaven's ledger with perfect accuracy.
Run into this sacred secrecy! Let your giving be so pure that even you forget what you've given. When we learn to serve without announcement, give without acknowledgment, and love without recognition, we position ourselves for heaven's most significant rewards.
For indeed, beloved, we must choose our audience - earth's fleeting applause or heaven's eternal appreciation. Will you embrace the joy of secret giving? When we learn to live for the Father's smile alone, we discover a deep satisfaction that no human praise can match.
The invitation stands - not to stop giving, but to give more purely. May we be found among those who plant secret seeds of kindness, knowing that what earth never sees, heaven never forgets.
With Love,
Steve Porter

Hidden Treasure: Intimate Devotions for the Spiritually Hungry by Steve Porter
The intimacy of those with sold-out, burning hearts become a pure fragrance to the Lord. How pleased He is when we worship Him with ALL our hearts, in no rush to leave. The Lord desires to give us Hidden Treasure (A deeper revelation of Himself). Instead of just head knowledge, He wants to provide us with an experiential and personal understanding of Himself and His character—a deeper revelation of His presence and who He is as well as revealing His very glory. He will reveal himself to hungry hearts and will take us into the secret of the stairs (Song of Solomon 2:14). The stairs signify our ascent toward Him level by level as He calls his bride up into a higher realm of intimacy with Him, beyond the limited experience of our past. He is calling His bride to arise and come away (Song of Solomon 2: 13). As we ascend the stairs, we are being weaned away from just the blessings and giftings to a greater dependency upon Him alone. He is giving His Bride Hidden treasure from the throne. Will you go? Rise up into the chambers of the Lord, for He is calling you up the stairs. He bids you come. These intimate devotions are not for the faint of heart!
