“Though none go with me, still I will follow.”
—Old Hymn
Obedience rarely makes headlines. It is often a lonely, hidden road paved with quiet yeses that the world never sees. And yet, dear one, it is this path—the narrow one, the misunderstood one—that heaven watches closely.
In a world intoxicated by applause and addicted to popularity, where comfort is preferred over conviction and affirmation is bartered for truth, the faithful ones often go unnoticed. But not by Him. Oh no—not by Him.
He sees you.
When you speak the truth in love, and it’s met with silence… He sees.
When you pour your life out like oil, and few seem to receive it… He sees.
When you obey, not for platform or praise, but because your heart burns to please Him alone… He sees.
“Your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.”
—Matthew 6:4 (NLT)
What a treasure it is—to be His. Not to be known. Not to be celebrated. But to be His. This is the highest calling, the deepest joy.
1. Obedience Is Costly, But Worth It
The narrow road is rarely crowded but always worth it.
“If you truly speak God’s message, you will be misunderstood by many—but embraced by heaven.”
Obedience will cost you relationships. It will cost you opportunities. It will cost you comfort. But what you gain in return is worth more than gold—the gaze of the One you love. The Lord does not weigh your impact by how many show up but by how deeply you remain faithful when no one looks.
2. True Ministry Happens in Hidden Places
The fragrance of the King often flows from broken vessels.
Some will listen to you once, hear your message of consecration, and then move on. Others—those with true hunger—will call again. And yet, whether we speak to a multitude or a remnant, He is worthy. You were never meant to serve for applause but to pour out your life before Him like costly perfume.
“Whether they listen or fail to listen—for they are a rebellious people—they will know that a prophet has been among them.”
—Ezekiel 2:5 (NIV)
The fragrance of the King doesn’t always fill stadiums—it often lingers in quiet hospital rooms, unseen prayer closets, and quiet visits to the forgotten. You carry that fragrance, beloved. And those who are hungry, those who are broken, those who are desperate for Him—they will smell it and know you’ve been with Jesus.
3. The Treasure Is in the Heart
Not in the outcome. Not in the applause. But in being fully His.
You may feel hidden. You may feel overlooked. But in the secret place where He dwells, you are fully seen, fully known, and fully loved. The treasure isn’t the ministry doors that open. It isn’t the email responses, the numbers, or the accolades. The treasure is found in being His—His voice, His vessel, His beloved.
“I am my beloved’s, and my beloved is mine.”
—Song of Songs 6:3 (TPT)
Even when the crowd doesn’t understand…
Even when you are passed by for the flashier voice…
Even when others choose sugary comfort over the searing truth of the cross…
You keep going because you weren’t called to please them.
You were called to follow Him.
Oh dear one, don’t lose heart. If your steps have grown weary from being misunderstood, if your obedience has cost you more than you imagined, if the echo of your yes resounds only in heaven—know this: You are walking in the footsteps of the Lamb.
You are not forgotten.
You are not invisible.
You are not alone.
Heaven is watching. And the King is smiling.
Let your tears flow if they must, but never stop pouring your oil.
Let your heart break if it must, but never stop saying yes.
Let your voice tremble if it must, but never stop speaking truth in love.
He is worth it all.
“Though none go with me, still I will follow.”
With Love,
Steve Porter

Being fully His.
Mighty God, You have already gone before Stephen into that eye surgeon’s office. Lead and guide the good doctor as they discuss options and procedures. Let Your Spirit guide all decisions going forward. May this third eye surgery be his last. We love You Jesus and we humbly ask these things in Jesus precious name. Amen
