“Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock.”
— Matthew 7:24 (NKJV)
Every so often something happens in the natural world that quietly preaches a sermon.
Not from a pulpit.
Not from a Bible commentary.
But from life itself.
Several years ago, headlines began appearing about a luxury skyscraper in San Francisco called Millennium Tower. It had been built as a symbol of permanence — sleek glass, beautiful views, millions of dollars invested in every direction. People purchased homes there believing they were buying stability, prestige, and security.
Yet something unexpected began to happen.
The tower slowly started to sink.
Not dramatically at first. Just inches.
Then came something even more unsettling. The building began to lean.
Now, to be clear, the tower did not collapse. Engineers assured everyone the structure was still safe. Yet the slow movement created something that spread quietly through the residents — fear.
Lawsuits followed.
Investigations followed.
Millions of dollars were spent trying to stabilize what had already been built.
And the reason for all of it came down to one simple issue.
The foundation had not been anchored deeply enough into bedrock.
The building was impressive above the surface. But beneath the ground, the foundation had stopped short of the rock that never moves.
And when the ground beneath began to shift, the tower did what any structure would do.
It leaned.
Dear one, there is a quiet spiritual lesson hidden in that story.
Many lives today look like Millennium Towers.
Beautiful on the outside.
Successful by the world’s standards.
Full of activity, movement, and ambition.
But if the foundation does not reach bedrock — if the life is not anchored deeply into Christ — sooner or later something begins to shift.
At first it may be small.
A subtle crack in the heart.
A door that no longer closes quite right.
A slow lean toward anxiety or compromise.
The person may still stand tall outwardly. Yet inwardly something has begun to move.
And when the storms come, fear spreads quickly because the soul senses that something beneath the surface is not stable.
Jesus spoke directly to this reality.
“The rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock.”
— Matthew 7:25
Notice something carefully.
The storms came to both houses.
The difference was not the weather.
The difference was the foundation.
There is another building whose story carries a heavier lesson.
In 2021, a residential building called Champlain Towers in Surfside, Florida suddenly collapsed during the night. Investigations later revealed that deterioration had been developing within the structure for years. Water intrusion, corrosion, and structural weakness had slowly been working their way through the building.
From the outside it looked like an ordinary condominium.
But beneath the surface, the structure had been weakening.
And one night, without warning, the building gave way.
The tragedy was heartbreaking.
Yet the spiritual parallel is sobering.
A life can appear steady while hidden damage quietly grows beneath the surface. If the foundation is not continually strengthened, the pressures of time and storms eventually reveal what was unseen.
Jesus was not merely speaking about buildings when He gave the parable of the two foundations.
He was speaking about lives.
Some lives are built on shifting ground — ambition, reputation, money, human approval, or religious activity that has never become deep intimacy with Christ.
Those things may look impressive for a season.
But sand always moves.
Other lives are anchored into bedrock.
The bedrock of daily fellowship with God.
The bedrock of obedience to His voice.
The bedrock of quiet surrender when no one else is watching.
These lives may not appear as glamorous as tall towers in the skyline. Yet when storms arrive — and they always do — something remarkable happens.
They do not collapse.
They stand.
They may shake for a moment. They may feel the wind. But deep beneath the visible structure, something immovable holds everything steady.
Christ Himself.
Beloved, God is calling His people in this hour to dig deeper than surface Christianity.
Not just tall towers of activity.
But foundations that reach bedrock.
Lives rooted in prayer.
Hearts anchored in His Word.
Souls settled into the quiet strength of His presence.
When the winds begin to blow — and they will — those who are anchored in Christ will not live in fear.
Because the foundation beneath them cannot move.
And a life built on bedrock will still be standing long after every shifting tower has finished leaning.
And perhaps this is the most beautiful part of the story, dear one.
The Lord is not looking for perfect towers.
He is not searching the earth for lives that have never cracked, never leaned, never felt the winds of trial. If that were the requirement, none of us would stand.
No, the Master Builder is looking for hearts that are willing to dig.
Willing to go deeper.
Willing to clear away the sand.
Willing to lay their lives down upon the one foundation that never moves.
Christ Himself.
And the wonderful mercy of God is this: it is never too late to deepen the foundation.
If cracks have appeared in your life, the Lord does not turn away. If the winds have shaken you or the storms have made your heart tremble, He does not abandon you.
He gently invites you closer.
“Come deeper,” He whispers.
“Build your life on Me.”
And when a life is anchored into Christ — truly anchored into His presence, His Word, His love — something beautiful begins to happen.
Fear loses its grip.
The soul grows steady.
Peace settles deep within the heart.
Storms may still come. Winds may still blow. But beneath the surface there is something unmovable, something eternal.
The Rock of Ages.
And when the winds finally pass and the skies grow quiet again, the life that was built upon Christ will still be standing — not because it was the tallest tower, or the most impressive structure, but because it was founded on the only foundation that never shifts.
Jesus.
And beloved, a life built upon Him will stand not only through the storms of this world…
but for all eternity.
With Love,
Steve Porter

💬 Thank you for spending a few quiet moments here. If this spoke to you, a brief comment is always a kindness—to me and to others who may be reading.
Can you hear it in the wind, the gentle voice that is almost a whisper? Can you hear it? Listen quietly and just quietly waited. Empty ourselves of the world's distractions and its distractions! Then we hear this gentle voice, almost whispering, come deeper, let Me excavate your foundation. Let Me anchor everything that you are.
Oh I can hear that gentle voice speaking quietly in the wind...what wind? The wind of the SPIRIT... I has been laying a firm foundation and He is asking us all, "Will you allow Me to help you to build your foundation upon the ROCK that is JESUS?
Please don't miss the call of GOD into a firm foundation that is rooted and grounded in CHRIST. Has anyone else noticed this gentle voice calling out in the halls of the Church? Not a building built by the hand of man but the one that is built by GOD. The call continues even as we read this HOLY SPIRIT inspired devotion. He is calling out to go deeper, come closer, surrender more, separate yourselves from the world, come, come, come!
Ask yourself some questions. What is ALMIGHTY GOD telling us in these devotions? What is He saying to me?
Dear ones, we are stepping closer and closer to the great tribulation. We are seeing both good and evil rising up in all the earth. Ask yourselves what is going on? Why are we hearing these things?
We are being called to be the remnant that hears and lovingly chooses to obey. We are being called to be a wise virgin. We are being drawn closer to GOD that we would heed the call into intimacy and a firm decision to allow GOD to "excavate" our hearts and lives. To allow HOLY SPIRIT to remove our earthly garments to out to the Bridal robes. We are being called into the end time harvest!
Every devotion, every tug at our hearts. Every obstacle in our path, all allow that we might be built upon the foundation of the ROCK. To be His chosen living tabernacles of light. To be His laborers in the fields white for harvest. To be what Stephen Porter says all the time, the Church within the church! To be mature Bride of our BRIDEGROOM. To be His conduits of His Glory and power, love, restoration. To proclaim the Jubilee of Jubilees that our SAVIOR is! We are being called by GOD to a great task that is founded upon JESUS and the love that He has for all people. Called into total surrender and built upon His firm foundation.
We are in the world right now, in this unique time, for an eternal purpose, to be that voice that echoes the call of GOD into repentance and to bring people to the cross. We dare not miss what time we are in...again HOLY SPIRIT says to us all, remember the parable of the virgins!
The call is clear! The time is not tomorrow but NOW! The people are all those that will respond and decide to hear what the SPIRIT is saying to the Church...draw closer that together we can bring millions to the feet of our LORD and SAVIOR.
HEAR OH CHILDREN WHAT THE SPIRIT OF GOD IS SAYING...
